NEW YORK — With New York City’s public schools closed this summer, children under 18 can still eat free breakfast and lunch at various locations around the city.

The free summer meals program begins Thursday and runs through Friday, August 30. There will be no service on July 4 and Friday, July 5.

Breakfast is served from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM, followed by lunch from 11:00 AM to 1:15 PM

To receive a free meal, you do not need to register or identify yourself.

The summer meal program is available citywide at schools, community pool centers, parks and libraries.

There is also a free food truck service from 10am to 4pm on weekdays and from 10am to 3pm on weekends at the following locations:

  • Sara D. Roosevelt Park in Manhattan
  • Prospect Park in Brooklyn (Parkside Avenue and Ocean Avenue)
  • Ferry Point Park in the Bronx (Schley Avenue and Hutchinson River Parkway)

What’s on the menu?

Thursday’s menu features cinnamon pancakes and fresh fruit for breakfast, followed by turkey tacos with tomato salad and brown rice for lunch.
