A 16-year-old is suspected of crashing a stolen car into the main entrance and a gate of Bethel High School in early October.
The teen was arrested on Tuesday for vandalism, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said on Facebook.
Officers were dispatched at 4:40 a.m. on Oct. 1 after a 911 caller reportedly saw a Hyundai sedan crash into the school’s fence. Twelve minutes later, security discovered the sedan also crashed into the front doors of the school. The engine was running, but no one was seen near the car, The News Tribune previously reported.
The sedan was stolen from Graham earlier that morning. It was later recovered and towed from the school, the story said.
It cost about $15,000 to repair the doors, according to a Bethel School District spokesperson.
Police say three or four other people were involved in the crash. Anyone with more information can contact the Sheriff’s Department or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers, the post said.
