An Ohio man was arrested Saturday evening after shooting at an Indiana police officer.

On Saturday around 11:00 PM, Union City Police Department officers responded to the 1100 block of W. State Road 28 in Union City, Indiana for reports of gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman who said she had heard several gunshots and screams an hour earlier across the road near the Little Mississinawa River bridge.
She contacted police again when she heard more shots and screams around 11 p.m
An officer approached the bridge and announced their presence before being confronted by gunfire from an unknown man.
According to a press release, multiple rounds were fired into the office, with the bullets “passing dangerously close.”
The officer did not return fire and could not immediately locate the suspect who fired.
A suspect was later identified as 45-year-old Michael Fisher of Union City, Ohio.
He reportedly had a 9mm pistol with an empty magazine and a locked slide.
Officers also located a vehicle in the river containing multiple firearms, including a long gun, ammunition and two dogs belonging to the suspect.
During the shooting, a nearby home was hit by gunfire. A bullet, consistent with a 9mm bullet, penetrated the exterior wall of the house and was found in the bedroom.
Fisher initially claimed he had been shot multiple times, but officers determined he was not injured.
He was taken into custody without further incident and charged with the following offences:

Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon – Level 5 Felony

Pointing a Firearm – Level 6 Felony

Criminal Recklessness – Level 6 Felony

Attempted Murder – Level 1 Felony

Unlawful carrying of a handgun – misdemeanor (previous conviction with a sentence of more than 12 months)

Criminal Mischief – Level 6 Felony
The case is still under investigation.
