Dec. 5 – Hours after being released from jail Monday for stalking singer Lacey Sturm in Murrysville, an Ohio man was back behind bars after showing up at the woman’s home, court papers show.
Anthony A. Carpenter, 43, arrived at the home in a flatbed truck at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, police said. He was carrying a McDonald’s bag. A person in the house told him to leave.
City police said they caught up with the truck in which Carpenter was a passenger and took him into custody. The court documents do not show who was behind the wheel.
He is charged with stalking, harassment and seditious trespass. During a court hearing on Monday, Carpenter pleaded guilty to stalking and challenging trespass on similar charges and was released on parole after serving more than six months in jail since his arrest in May.
In the first case, he was seen ringing a video doorbell and walking through the home despite numerous “no trespassing” signs posted around the property, court documents show. He wrote letters and emails to the singer expressing his love, police said.
Judge Timothy Krieger sentenced Carpenter to a maximum of 23 months. He was ordered to spend an additional year of probation, return to his home in Rutland, Ohio and have no further contact with the Flyleaf singer, her family or her property. According to court records, Carpenter was ordered held during a hearing Thursday.
In the new case, Carpenter was denied bail and was held in the Westmoreland County Jail. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 17.
