Oil tanker crash, hazardous materials response closes highway near Massachusetts-New Hampshire border

A serious accident involving a tanker truck that overturned closed part of a highway in New Hampshire near the Massachusetts border Monday morning.

According to Nashua Fire Rescue, the crash happened on the north side of the Everett Turnpike, near Exit 8 in Nashua.

The accident caused oil to spill onto the highway, prompting a hazmat response. A safety crew is working to dump oil from the overturned tanker.

“The situation will continue for several hours as the product is unloaded from the trailer,” firefighters said in a message on X.

It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
