Oklahoma State star RB Ollie Gordon II arrested on drunken driving charges

Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II was arrested Sunday morning on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, after being pulled over south of Oklahoma City, multiple sources said.

Gordon, 20, was pulled over around 2:30 a.m. Sunday after an officer said he was speeding and weaving multiple times on Interstate 35 near Moore, Okla., KOCO reported. The officer said he “smelled an odor associated with an alcoholic beverage,” and later found half a bottle of vodka and half a bottle of tequila in the vehicle. Gordon initially told the officer he hadn’t been drinking, but later said he had had one drink, according to an affidavit obtained by KFOR’s Dylan Buckingham.

Gordon allegedly refused multiple times to take field sobriety tests at the scene. He blew a 0.11 BAC and a 0.10 BAC at the Cleveland County Jail nearly 40 minutes later, both of which are above the legal limit to operate a vehicle in Oklahoma.

Gordon was arrested for driving under the influence under 21, carrying an open container of alcohol, failure to maintain a single lane and speeding. Oklahoma State said it was aware of his arrest but declined to comment further.

Gordon had a breakout year with the Cowboys last season, compiling an FBS-high 1,732 rushing yards and 22 total touchdowns while leading them to a 10-4 record, a Big 12 championship game appearance and a bowl win. He was named the Big 12’s Offensive Player of the Year and won the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s best running back each season. Gordon finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting.

Gordon and the Cowboys open their season on August 31 against South Dakota State in Stillwater.
