Rock Hill police said they found the victims in the 1200 block of Amelia Avenue around 12:45 p.m.

Police arrived and the woman with gunshot wounds to her hand and head told them the man had been shot in the vehicle parked on the street.

EMS took the female to Piedmont Medical Center. She is expected to do well. The man died on the spot.

Family and friends of the two victims gathered on the street where the man died.

“I hate that this happened,” said Rah Neely, a relative of the slain man. “It’s a tragedy man and he’s a great father and he loved everyone. Most importantly, he loved his children.”

Family members said the two were in a car in the driveway when they were attacked. Someone started shooting at them.

They believe the two tried to take cover from the bullets and crossed the street where police found the car.

Neely and other family members tried to make sense of the crime.

“He was a great person,” Neely said. “He’d give you the shirt off his back. He will give you everything. He loved taking care of his children and his family.”

Police said investigators believe the shooting occurred following a drug sale. Rock Hill police say the suspect approached their vehicle and shot into it, hitting both victims.

Detectives are working to identify the suspect.

No arrests have been made.
