One of Miami’s favorite Cuban sandwich shops just opened in Bayside Marketplace

One of Miami’s favorite spots for Cuban sandwiches has just opened a new restaurant in downtown Miami.

Sanguich, the Michelin-starred restaurant from husband and wife team Daniel Figueredo and Rosa Romero, is now open in Bayside Marketplace, a spot that draws both tourists and locals who don’t mind crossing busy Biscayne Boulevard for a bite to eat.

The restaurant, which opened in 2018 on Eighth Street in Little Havana, has been “bombarded” with requests for more locations, Figueredo said. Earlier this year, he and Romero opened a location in Coral Gables, and they also own a training center and manufacturing facility in Little River.

“Bayside is now our fourth location in South Florida, and we’re just getting started,” he said. “We’re excited to bring our sandwiches to more neighborhoods in the region and across the U.S.”

The menu will reflect what Sanguich has become known for: classics like the Cubano, pan con lechon, croqueta preparada and pan con bistec. For the handful of diners who prefer turkey to pork, there’s the Sanguich de Miami, with turkey, smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on Cuban bread. All sandwiches range in price from $11.50 to $13.89.

The new Sanguich will also serve batidos (milkshakes), with flavors like mamey, banana and trigo. The Flancay dessert will also be available.

Romero said it was gratifying to see the restaurant resonate with diners, especially after being named a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide for three years in a row. The designation highlights restaurants that offer good food at reasonable prices.

“We are thrilled to have a home in one of Miami’s most vibrant neighborhoods,” she said. “Our commitment to quality, tradition and community remains unwavering as we grow.”
