On Saturday, for the second time, one person was killed and another injured in a shooting in the city.
The latest killing occurred around 11 p.m. behind Anna Chestnutt Middle School in the 700 block of Edgehill Road, Fayetteville police said.
According to police, one person was pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and the other was listed in fair condition. Their names were not released.
“Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department Homicide Unit are actively investigating this homicide and ask anyone with information or video footage to contact detectives or Crimestoppers,” a press release said.

Saturday night’s shooting came less than 24 hours after a deadly shooting at a Ramsey Street hookah bar left 25-year-old Elijah Wyand dead and one other person injured.
Saturday’s two killings bring the total number of homicide investigations in the city so far this year to 16. There were 37 during the same period last year.
