CHICAGO (CBS) — One teen was killed and another was injured after a shooting early Sunday morning in the Little Village neighborhood.

The shooting happened just after 1:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of South Avers Avenue.

Chicago police said the victims were standing on the sidewalk when shots were fired. Both were taken to area hospitals by the fire brigade.

A 16-year-old male was brought to Mount Sinai by CFD in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and later died. The teen was identified by the medical examiner’s office as Jesus M. Sanchez.

The second teen, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to Stroger in good condition with a gunshot wound to the back.

No one is in custody as of Sunday.

Area 4 detectives are investigating.
