Oshkosh man dies after being hit by train on East Parkway Avenue, police investigate

OSHKOSH – A 23-year-old Oshkosh man died Sunday evening after being struck by a train.

Officers were dispatched to a 911 call at 6:53 p.m. Sunday for a report of a male pedestrian on East Parkway Avenue who had been struck by a northbound train, Oshkosh police said in a news release.

When officers arrived, they found the man who had been hit and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OPD Accident Investigation Team and detectives responded to the scene and continued to investigate the incident Sunday evening.

The train was held at the scene for investigation and as a result, the rail lines south of East Parkway to East 15th Avenue were closed Sunday evening.

No further details were immediately released Sunday evening.
