Pedestrian died after being struck by a bus in Grays Harbor County on Thursday

A 33-year-old Aberdeen man died Thursday after being struck by a transit bus in Grays Harbor County.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, the incident occurred just before 7 a.m. on State Route 115 near Ocean City State Park.

The bus driver, a 62-year-old Humptulips man, was reportedly driving north on the highway when he struck the pedestrian. The memo shows that the pedestrian was in the northbound lane and died at the scene. The bus driver was unharmed.

Troopers closed the highway for several hours Thursday morning, Trooper Katherine Weatherwax shared on X. An image from the scene showed the transit bus parked on the right shoulder of the highway.

“Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragic incident,” Weatherwax wrote on X.

The memo shows that no other people were involved in the incident. State police called the cause of the incident “pedestrian on roadway.”
