A pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by a semi-truck at the intersection between the 5 Freeway and 10 Freeway in Boyle Heights.
It happened around 12:45 a.m., when officers were called to the northbound lanes of I-5, near the eastbound lanes of I-10, the California Highway Patrol said.
They found the pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, on the highway and pronounced him dead at the scene.
While the investigation continued, CHP issued an hours-long SigAlert, closing three lanes of the interchange. All lanes have since reopened.
The cause of the crash remains unclear, but investigators say the operator of the large drilling rig remained at the scene.
