Pedestrian dies after being struck in Long Beach

A man died Friday after being struck and killed by a car in Long Beach.

According to officers with the Long Beach Police Department, the crash happened near the intersection of Carson Street and Gundry Avenue around 10:40 p.m.

Their preliminary investigation revealed that the man, who has not yet been identified, was crossing Carson Street outside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a car traveling eastbound on the same street.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver continued to cooperate with the investigation and investigators do not believe speed, distracted driving or impairment played a role in the crash.
