A pedestrian was hit by a car late Thursday night on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach.

According to officers with the Long Beach Police Department, the accident happened around 11:50 p.m. They were dispatched to PCH and Pasadena Avenue after hearing about the incident.

The victim, who has not been identified, was discovered by officers upon arrival and taken to hospital by paramedics. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that a Lexus sedan was traveling west of Pacific Coast Highway and collided with a pedestrian who was walking south on Pacific Coast Highway outside of a marked crosswalk,” a statement from the LBPD said.

Police say the driver remained at the scene to cooperate with their investigation. They do not believe speed, distracted driving or driving under the influence were factors in the fatal crash.
