A 46-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was struck by a pickup truck while crossing a street in Kennewick Sunday evening.
Half an hour later, a Kennewick teen was also seriously injured when she lost control while driving on Highway 395 near Mesa. She had to be flown by LifeFlight to a Tri-Cities hospital.
The first happened around 5:15 p.m. when a pickup truck hit the crosswalk on the 1100 block of West 10th Avenue at the Arlo Apartments, near Park Middle School, Kennewick police said in a Facebook post. According to the police, he was not at a zebra crossing.
When officers arrived, they found the man with serious life-threatening injuries. His condition was not immediately available Monday.
The 63-year-old driver remained at the scene and spoke with police. It is not clear whether she will face charges.
Investigators closed the road for nearly five hours while the Kennewick Police Department’s Traffic Unit and Richland Police investigated, Kennewick police said.

Half an hour later, Laura Kirkwood of Kennewick lost control of her 2011 Ford Crown Victoria on Highway 395.
The 18-year-old was driving south on the highway when she swerved to avoid debris on the road around 5:45 p.m., the Washington State Patrol and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said in news releases. Her car crashed into a guardrail, trapping her in the wreckage.
A Franklin County sheriff’s sergeant was the first to arrive and stayed with her until rescue crews could help free her, the sheriff’s office said.
She was flown to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. Her condition was not immediately available Monday.
Washington State Patrol investigators say she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
