Penguins Captain Ties Hall Of Famer

On Friday night at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, Pittsburgh Penguins forward Anthony Beauvillier scored a first-period goal, assisted by Sidney Crosby.

While the lamplighter didn’t lead to a standing ovation for the Penguins captain, the helper did tie him with Joe Sakic for 13th on the NHL’s all-time assists list.

Additionally, Crosby’s 1,016th assist is also the sixth-most by a single-franchise player.

Next on the list of assists is his former boss, landlord and teammate Mario Lemieux, who had 1,033 for his career. Once Crosby catches number 66, he will become the Penguins’ all-time leader.

After Lemieux, the next Hall of Famer to pass is Steve Yzerman, who recorded 1,063 assists with the Detroit Red Wings.
