Pennsylvania cyclist killed on Route 206 in Sussex County; driver is seriously injured

A cyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in Sussex County after being struck by a car on Route 206.

Damian Baranowski, a 22-year-old from Milford, Pennsylvania, was driving north on the right shoulder of the freeway in Sandyston when a Nissan crossed the shoulder and struck Baranowski, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Lebron said police responded to a call around 2:50 p.m.

The Nissan, driven by a 21-year-old Bronx woman, continued north before veering off the road, striking a utility pole and overturning. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Lebron said the crash is under investigation and no additional information is available.
