Perryton Assistant Fire Chief Scott Glass died Sunday from a head wound he suffered while on duty last week.
The City of Perryton and Perryton Fire/EMS announced Glass’ death in a news release on Sunday just after 6 p.m.
Perryton firefighters were battling a fully engulfed building fire around 10:45 p.m. Thursday in north Perryton when Glass and two other firefighters were struck by a 5-inch hose while it was being filled with water, Globe-News previously reported.
Glass suffered serious head injuries and was airlifted to Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, where he died from his injuries on Sunday.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of Assistant Chief Glass,” Perryton Mayor Kerry Symons said in the news release. “We would like to ask the Perryton community to lift Scott’s wife Melissa, his two children, other family members and especially the Perryton Fire/EMS department in prayers.”
Glass, a native of McLean, was employed by the city of Perryton for 17 years, the release said. He was a certified firefighter and paramedic and a veteran of the United States Army.
Glass was an organ donor, the fire department said, “so others are alive through his passing!”
Details about the funeral were not yet announced on Sunday evening.
