PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Today marks 23 years since the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers collapsed in the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil.
In remembrance of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, many events are held in the Delaware Valley to honor the heroic first responders and the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.
Below is a list of memorials and events for people in the Philadelphia area who want to pay their respects to local first responders and remember the brave lives lost on September 11, 2001.
Pennsylvania
Eagles Offer Huge Meal Package for 9/11 Day of Service
Nearly 2,000 volunteers will pack 700,000 meals on Wednesday that will be donated to Philabundance as part of the Philadelphia Eagles 9/11 Day of Service.

Blue Mass and Bell Ringing Ceremony at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Wayne
This event honors the emergency workers who died in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Active emergency workers are also honored during the ceremony.

Sixth Annual Delco 9/11 Memorial Bike Ride and a night memorial service
The 24-kilometer bike ride will depart from the fire station at 8:46 a.m. A short ceremony will follow.

Delaware County September 11 Remembrance Ceremony at Rose Tree Park
The Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office will honor the county’s first responders who died in the line of duty and remember those who died in the devastating attacks of September 11, 2001.

The Fireman’s Hall Museum is hosting a Q&A for visitors to explore 9/11 through the eyes of a retired Philadelphia sergeant

Retired Philadelphia Police Sgt. Greg Masi was working in Philadelphia’s 911 Emergency Operations Center when the Twin Towers were hit in 2001. Masi and a small team were sent to Ground Zero to assist the NYPD. Masi will share his 9/11 story while answering questions from visitors and engaging with the community in the Fireman’s Hall.
Heroes Thrillshow Preview in the city center
This 45-minute preview of the event will feature the debut of this year’s all-star lineup, including the Philadelphia Highway Patrol Motorcycle Drill Team, Fire Trucks, Philadelphia Strike Force Bicycle Force, Police Mounted Unit and many more!
In addition to the exciting demonstrations, spectators can watch the Philadelphia Fire Department perform safety drills, focusing on daring rescue operations and procedures. Guests can also enjoy music led by radio personality “Mr. Saturday Night” Bob Pantano.

Hartsville Fire Department 9/11 Memorial Event
This memorial will display 403 American flags on the lawn in front of the Hartsville Fire Station, honoring the 343 New York City firefighters, 37 New York Port Authority officers, and 23 New York Police Department officers who died in the line of duty on 9/11/01. Two other flags will represent volunteer firefighters John Kulick and Tristan Smith, who died in the line of duty in Iraq.
During the memorial service, the names of the deceased firefighters and police officers will be read out.

200 Club Burlington County 9/11 Prayer Service
Following the prayer service, a Ralph’s Market breakfast will be held.

Camden County Commissioners and Mayor Host 9/11 Flag-Raising, Wreath-Laying Ceremony
Camden County Board of Commissioners and Camden Mayor Victor Carstarphen will hold a flag-laying ceremony and wreath-laying ceremony at City Hall. There will be a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the exact time the North Tower was hit by the first plane in 2001.

Saracini-O’Neill Atlantic City 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
- Where: Jackson Ave and the Boardwalk, Ventnor, 08406

The ceremony will feature music and patriotic songs by the Atlantic County Sandpipers Pipes & Drums. A 40-ton patriotic sand sculpture will be created by artist John Gowdy. There will also be three rounds of Civil War Cannon volleys from Last Salute and the presentation of the Last Salute memorial flag.
