A Philadelphia couple’s love affair has earned them a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Marjorie Fiterman, 102, and Bernie Littman, 100, are now the world’s oldest newlyweds.
According to Guinness World Records, the couple married on May 19 after dating for nine years.
Their combined age was 202 years and 271 days.
“The couple bonded over sharing meals and participating in their retirement community’s productions,” according to Guinness World Records. “Bernie attributes his longevity and happiness to reading and staying up to date, and Marjorie attributes hers to buttermilk.”
Both attended the University of Pennsylvania at the same time. According to Guinness World Records, Fiterman studied to become a teacher and Littman to become an engineer.
The couple met in a senior home after both their spouses passed away after more than 60 years of marriage.
According to Guinness World Records, Bernie immediately hit it off with Marjorie when they first met at a fancy dress party on their floor, and the romance began soon after — they had their first date on the same day one of his great-granddaughters was born. .”
