The Philadelphia Eagles win The New Orleans Saints took fans on an emotional rollercoaster on Sunday afternoon.
The Week 3 game ended with a much-needed victory for the fans who filled Yards Brewing in Spring Garden.
“Great win, man,” Mount Airy’s Dave Wilson said. “Come on, Birds!”
“That was the best defensive game we’ve ever played,” Delaware County’s Oleg Kariouk said.
One of the youngest fans was 10-month-old Leo Bradley, who watched the nerve-wracking match in a festive match outfit.
“He’s wearing his little fan shirt,” said Leo’s mother Molly Bradley. “He’s got his footballs on his pacifier clip.”
Amidst the cheers and chants, the victory also came with some narrow victories and injuries.
“I was scared,” said Tameka Wilson of Mount Airy. “I had palpitations, but I knew we were going to make it.”
“I think they turned it around in the end,” said Fishtown resident Nick Schumacher.
“I really thought we were going to lose,” Kariouk said.
One fan kept the energy high, even during the toughest moments, by singing Eagles songs throughout the bar.
“When our team does something good, we celebrate it,” Kariouk said. “When they do something bad, like in Philadelphia, we boo.”
Ultimately, the Birds survived, which led to an overwhelming sense of relief, bringing together their loyal fans and new ones.
“We knew that with a son, we were definitely going to raise an Eagles fan,” Bradley said. “So, being able to be here with friends and family is always exciting.”
“I grew up watching this team,” Kariouk said. “I’ll always love them no matter what.”
