PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Philadelphia Flyers selected center Jett Luchanko with the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NHL draft on Friday night. Luchanko played for the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League.
The Flyers traded one spot back, sending the 12th pick to the Minnesota Wild for the 13th pick and a third-round pick in 2025.
Luchanko was ranked the 20th best North American prospect by NHL Central Scouting.
The 17-year-old is 6 feet tall and weighs 187 pounds.

During the 2023-2024 season, Luchanko scored 20 goals, 54 assists and 74 points in 68 games for the Storm.
The Flyers traded their second pick in the first round, No. 32 overall, to the Edmonton Oilers for a conditional first-round pick (top-12 protected in 2025).
In total, the orange and black have at least eight selections. The Columbus Blue Jackets must let the Flyers know whether they will send this year’s or next year’s second-round pick to Philadelphia as part of the Ivan Provorov trade.
Earlier this week, Flyers general manager Danny Briere and Philadelphia were told the 2023 first-round pick Matvei Michkov joins the organization after his KHL team, SKA Saint Petersburg, released him from his contract.
The NHL Draft is a two-day event, with Round 1 on Friday and Rounds 2-7 on Saturday. This year, the event will be held in Las Vegas.
