Photographer asks Dallas police to drop charges against Chiefs’ Rashee Rice

A photographer who said he was punched in the face by Kansas City Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice at a Dallas nightclub earlier this month has reportedly asked police to drop assault charges.

So says Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network gave the update on Tuesday morning on the show ‘The Insiders’.

“Rashee Rice clearly has other issues to deal with with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was in a car accident and faces eight charges for his role in it,” Pelissero said. “There was also an accusation recently by a photographer that he assaulted the photographer as he left a club. I can tell you that the photographer… has given an affidavit to the Dallas Police Department saying it was a misunderstanding and that he wants the charges dropped.

“You still have the things related to the car incident that are going to have to play out for her here,” she wrote, “and then on top of that NFL discipline, but for now he is back with the Chiefs.”

Like ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pelissero noted that Rice is with the Chiefs for phase three of their offseason workouts. Rice also shared a post on social media on Sunday showing he was in Kansas City.

Rice was initially investigated for an incident involving the photographer at 609 N. Harwood Street in Dallas, the location of Lit Kitchen nightclub.

The Dallas Morning News, citing an incident report it obtained through an open records request, said the photographer told police he had left a party but was then told to come back when the “suspect ‘ messaged him on Instagram. According to the incident report obtained by the Morning News, the photographer told police he found the suspect and was asked to read Instagram messages on the suspect’s phone; When the photographer did so, he said the suspect punched him on the left side of his face.

According to the Morning News, Dallas police officials identified Rice as the “suspect” in the report.

The Morning News reported that a man was taken to hospital in connection with the incident with non-life-threatening injuries. Police told the Morning News that the man had “visible swelling on one side of his face.”

Rice still faces eight charges in connection with the multi-vehicle crash on a Dallas freeway in March. Police say it started when Rice was racing a car that had reached a top speed of 120 mph.
