July 4 – A 5-year-old girl was not injured Wednesday night when the vehicle she was a passenger in was struck by bullets during a shooting in Mt. Washington, Pittsburgh police said.

The driver was taken to hospital in stable condition for treatment of a gunshot wound to the back.

Police said they were dispatched to Estella Avenue around 10:30 p.m. for a ShotSpotter call indicating 11 rounds had been fired in the area. The wounded man drove himself to an EMS station in Pittsburgh with the girl in the car.

A dark-colored Dodge Durango was seen leaving the scene of the shooting, police said. It had Pennsylvania license plates MBR-9566. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 412-323-7800.

The child was returned to her family. The vehicle she was in, and others in the area, were damaged by bullets, police said.

No arrests have been announced yet.
