On September 4, two world record holders will face off in an exhibition match over the 100 meters, pitting Olympic pole vault champion Armand Duplantis against Paris 2024 400 meter hurdles silver medalist Karsten Warholm.

The two will compete in a friendly battle for the fastest time over the distance at the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich, a day before the Diamond League competition in the Swiss city.

Swede Duplatis ran a personal best of 10.57 seconds in high school in the United States in 2018 and has previously indicated that he would like to compete in relays for Sweden.

Warholm’s last 100 meters was in 2017, when the Norwegian ran 10.49 seconds.

The 24-year-old Duplantis set a new world record in the 6.25 meter pole vault in Paris, winning two consecutive Olympic gold medals.

Warholm is the world record holder and three-time world champion in the 400m hurdles, but was unable to defend his Olympic title won in Tokyo 2020 at the recent Games, as the 28-year-old finished behind American Rai Benjamin.
