Police are investigating possible human remains found in Jay

Oct. 20 – Police investigate possible human remains found in Jay on Saturday.

The skeletal remains were found sometime Saturday in the area of 24 Elm St., said Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine State Police.

The remains are “possibly human,” but there was no confirmation from the Office of Chief Medical Examiner as of Sunday afternoon, Moss said.

News Center Maine reported that the remains were found after the family of Kimberly Moreau, a teenager who went missing from Jay 38 years ago, received a tip. It is still unclear whether the cases are related.
