Two suspects were arrested Saturday after a two-city chase that started at Bloomfield Lowe’s and ended with a crash at Route 44 and Irving Street in Hartford, according to Bloomfield police.
Theodore Tobias, 53, and Portia Bick, 34, were arrested and their truck was seized after the chase that began at Bloomfield Lowes at 325 Cottage Grove Road ended, police said.
According to Bloomfield police, officers were called when Tobias and Bick’s white pickup truck was spotted and they appeared ready to enter the store.
Police said the truck and suspects were recognized from previous alleged thefts in Newington and Bloomfield. Bloomfield officers approached the truck and the suspects fled, police said.
In Hartford, at Route 44 and Irving Street, the suspect’s truck struck a light pole and suffered front-end damage, police said. According to Bloomfield police, a Bloomfield police cruiser was also damaged after the suspect’s vehicle rolled backwards and collided with the cruiser.
Tobias is reportedly facing unspecified motor vehicle charges and Bick is charged with possession of a controlled substance, Bloomfield police said. The case is still under investigation, police said.
