Police are searching for a suspect in a stolen vehicle in the San Fernando Valley.

It’s unclear what exactly prompted the chase, but San Fernando police officers could be seen chasing the driver through streets in North Hollywood, Pacoima and Sun Valley, with SkyCal overhead.

About 30 minutes after the chase began, California Highway Patrol officers confirmed the car was stolen.

The driver, behind the wheel of a red Toyota Prius, dodged a truck that was attempting to back out of a parking lot at one point, nearly crashing into another uninvolved car before mounting a curb.

At one point, the driver drove through a fence and into a dead-end street, just in front of a tire depot at the corner of Fleetwood Street and Tujunga Avenue in Sun Valley. He then struck a barrier, shattering the windshield and damaging the front of the car.

The driver then drove away, with police hot on his heels.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., the driver entered the northbound lane of I-405 in Van Nuys.

This is a developing story. Check back later for details.
