A police officer was taken to the hospital for further evaluation after a collision with another car in Camas left both vehicles totaled.
On Sunday, Officer Casey Handley was driving east on Northwest Lake Road when another car entered the intersection with Northwest Parker Street and collided with the officer.
According to Camas police, Officer Headley was at the intersection when a car turning left onto Southwest Parker Street collided with his patrol car.
Both vehicles were badly damaged, but no one was seriously injured.
The Camas-Washougal Fire Department responded to the scene and provided assistance.
“It was frightening to hear about the collision last night involving one of our Camas Police Department officers and see the extent of the damage to the vehicle. I am grateful to the CRESA dispatchers, Camas-Washougal Fire & Medical, Vancouver Police Department, Washougal Police Department, Washington State Patrol and our other Camas Police Department officers who responded quickly to assist. Special thanks to WSP for handling the investigation into the crash. Our team wishes our officer a speedy recovery,” said Chief Jones of the Camas Police Department.
As a precaution, Officer Handley was taken to an area hospital for further care.
The Washington State Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash.
No information has been provided about the cause of the crash.
