Police respond to Bourne’s home after the man barricaded himself with family

On Friday, December 6, Bourne Police responded to a report of a man barricading himself in his home with his family.

Police were called to a home on Old Plymouth Road about 7:32 p.m. for a man in mental health condition who was in possession of a firearm. Family members, including a young child, lived in the home.

After some time, the police were able to safely escort the family members out of the house, while the man was still in the house.

Police and negotiators attempted to talk to the man, and after 2 hours and 47 minutes, the man left the house peacefully and was taken into custody.

The man was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

There were no injuries.
