A death investigation is underway after police shot and killed a person in Torrance Monday evening.
Officers were called to the 2900 block of Oregon Court, near Maple Avenue, to investigate a “report of suspicious circumstances,” Torrance police said.
Some time after their arrival, police shot a suspect they encountered at the scene. It is unclear what led to the shooting.
SkyCal flew overhead, where a white canopy covered a person’s body in the middle of Oregon Court, between two police patrol cars. The trunk and doors of a nearby sedan were also ajar, but it is unclear if this was related.
“We recognize the seriousness of this incident and understand the concerns it raises within our community,” a TPD statement said. “There is no danger to community members.”
