A major repaving project on Lexington’s two major highways will result in multiple lane closures starting Sunday evening, state transportation officials said.
The overnight closures will last until Thursday, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials said.
Beginning Sunday at 7 p.m., contractors will close one lane of Interstate 64 and Interstate 75 in each direction between mile marker 113, the Paris Pike exit, and mile marker 115, the Newtown Pike exit.
As work progresses throughout the night, contractors will change which lane is closed. If necessary, double lane closures will begin after 8:30 PM. The work will continue throughout the week, starting at 7pm each evening.
All lanes are open again every morning at 6 a.m.
The work is part of the I-75 widening project. When completed in 2026, this project will reduce traffic congestion and improve safety on the 2-mile corridor from the Newtown Pike exit to the Paris Pike exit.
