Portland expected to get another taste of snow tonight

Dec. 7 – Portland is expected to see its second glimpse of snow of the week Saturday night into Sunday, with forecasters projecting a few inches across Maine.

The National Weather Service is monitoring a clipper system from Alberta this weekend, which is expected to produce between 1 and 3 inches overnight.

Forecasters expect coastal areas like Portland to see the low end of that range, while the inland parts of the state will see around 3 inches.

The snow is expected to decrease Sunday evening.

There is a chance of a wintry mix on Monday and Tuesday, followed by more rain, creating slicker travel conditions, the weather service said.

Portland got its first real glimpse of snow on Thursday, but it wasn’t much: Only a tenth of an inch was reported at the Portland International Jetport, and temperatures hovering around freezing quickly melted any accumulation .
