Mandy Moore isn’t afraid to talk about some of the less glamorous aspects of motherhood.
The Dr. Dead star, 40, who is currently pregnant with her third baby, recently spoke with PEOPLE about her collaboration with skin and body care brand Eucerin. While chatting about her beauty routine, the star shared some of her tricks for getting her two sons Augustus ‘Gus’ (3) and Oscar ‘Ozzie’ (19 months) to wear sunscreen.
“I’m lucky that my boys aren’t super squirmy,” the mom-to-be tells PEOPLE. ‘They recognize it [that] I’ve always been that mom who says, look, I’m going to pick out your boogers and I’m going to slather you in moisturizer. That’s just all they ever knew about me.”
“So if we put another product on top of that when we’re in the sun, it doesn’t really bother them. They say, ‘Oh, this is pretty routine for us,'” Moore says.

Although her boys are usually good at tolerating sunscreen, Moore says she still has to act quickly.
“It’s as fast as you can get anything. My boys aren’t going to sit still by any means, but they also recognize, ‘I just have to grin and bear it because this is who my mom is.’” she teases.
As the actress prepares to transition into a household with three children, she tells PEOPLE she’s just enjoying where her family is.
“It’s so much fun. I know parents like to say it just keeps getting better, but I really believe that’s the case,” Moore said. “We have one who is clearly potty trained and the other is still in diapers, but the difference between them is only 20 months so they are just starting to interact.”
“My husband, I looked at each other the other day and we said, ‘This is a good phase.’ But we also recognize that in parenting there’s an ebb and flow,” she continues. “You can’t get used to anything because once you kind of digest it and you think, ‘Oh wow, we can handle this,’ you get it. presented a different challenge.”
“So we’re trying to be present and enjoy where we are right now with the guys, but we realize, oh, I’m sure there’s a sleep regression right around the corner, or something waiting to change the atmosphere at this moment.”
Although she’s waiting for the other shoe to drop, Moore says her family has some fun things planned for the summer.
“I’m excited, we have a guy going camping. We’re going to do some family trips. It feels a little more manageable right now,” Moore added.
