Preview of the Arkansas House of Representatives race between Hodges and Gonzales Worthen

Arkansas House District 9

This is the second time DeAnna Hodges and Diana Gonzales Worthen have faced off in District 9. They previously faced off in 2022, when the seat was open.

The Anna Hodges (R)

Incumbent Republican DeAnna Hodges was elected to her first term in the Arkansas House of Representatives in 2022.

Hodges has worked as a real estate agent and as a jewelry consultant.

Her campaign websites state that “life begins at conception,” “our children should be educated, not indoctrinated,” “it’s time to abolish the state income tax,” “Second Amendment gun rights deserve protection,” and “excessive government regulation hinders business and jobs.”

Diana Gonzales Worthen (D)

Diana Gonzales Worthen of Springdale has been teaching for more than 15 years. She was the director of Project Teach Them All at the University of Arkansas, a program that trained teachers to teach students who speak English as a second language.

“Diana’s life’s work is access: access to literacy, access to higher education, access to health care and mental health services, and access to quality jobs,” her campaign website states. “Our community deserves a representative who focuses on us, not on extreme policies that harm our schools, businesses, and families.”
