A projectile fired into Israel from Yemen on Saturday night struck Tel Aviv, causing minor injuries to 16 people, according to Israeli officials.
The Israeli military said after sirens sounded in central Israel that the projectile had landed in Tel Aviv’s southern Jaffa area after failed interception attempts.
“Following the sirens that sounded recently in central Israel, one projectile launched from Yemen was identified and unsuccessful interception attempts were made,” the army said on Telegram.

Iran-backed Houthi rebels have repeatedly launched rocket attacks from Yemen into Israel since the war in Gaza began last October, but the overnight incident represents a rare case of Israel failing to intercept.
Israel has retaliated by attacking multiple targets in areas of Yemen controlled by the Houthis.

“Recently, reports were received of a weapon falling into one of the settlements in the Tel Aviv district,” Israeli police said on Saturday.
On Thursday, the Israeli military said it had intercepted a rocket launched from Yemen, sending shrapnel causing extensive damage to a school near Tel Aviv.
