SACRAMENTO – Protesters with pro-Palestinian messages interrupted a Memorial Day event at Sacramento’s Memorial Auditorium on Monday.
The event took place outside the venue and would include a flag ceremony and speakers.
It’s unclear exactly when the protesters interrupted, but Sacramento police sent out an alert just before 11 a.m. that protesters were now blocking J Street at 15th Street, near the Memorial Auditorium.
As seen in video taken during the event, demonstrators carried signs and shouted pro-Palestinian messages.
The original Memorial Day event was scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to noon. People who attended the ceremony say the protesters sang during the event.
A group of protesters appear to march into Midtown Sacramento, away from the venue.
Sacramento Police are warning residents to be aware of road closures due to the march.
