BOSTON – Pumpkin spice seems to be everywhere this time of year: from coffee to cake, candles and beer. Now you can add a car wash to the list and support a good cause.
ScrubaDub Car Wash, with locations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine, has unveiled a way to infuse the scent of pumpkin spice into the washing process. Customers can get it for an additional $5.
The firm’s managing partner, Matthew Paisner, said there is a serious, heartfelt mission behind the light-hearted idea.
All pumpkin spice sales at the car wash in November will benefit Community Servings of Jamaica Plain, a nonprofit organization that provides medically tailored meals to critically ill people in Massachusetts, Rhode Island.
Car wash customers can also purchase a Thanksgiving pie online, which will provide a week’s supply of meals to someone in need.
“We have been partners with Community Servings for decades and we were looking for ways to increase pie sales,” Paisner told WBZ-TV.
“It’s such a wonderful, heartwarming fall scent that has all of us in New England preparing for what’s ahead, which is Thanksgiving, and the Thanksgiving table is so important and truly means something to all of us. If you’re a buy a pie through Community Servings, through our Pie in the Sky event, it goes to your table while you’re feeding someone. So your donation, your purchase of a pie, is actually a donation to Community Servings to feeding someone for a week, think about the impact of that,” said Darcy Pfeifer, director of development at Community Servings.
The pumpkin spice car wash will be available at all ScrubaDub locations from October 22 through November 30. ScrubaDub recommends turning off your car’s air recirculation system and turning on your heater or air conditioning while washing to enjoy the full experience.
