Putin threatens to attack Kiev with a new medium-range missile

Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened to fire the army’s new medium-range missiles at other targets in Ukraine, including the capital Kiev.

The Kremlin is currently selecting targets for further attacks, he said at a meeting of the Russian-led military alliance, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana.

“These could be military buildings, defense companies or decision-making centers in Kiev,” Putin said.

Speaking about last week’s attack on the Ukrainian industrial city of Dnipro with the new Oreshnik ballistic missile, he said: “We were forced to conduct the test under war conditions in response to the attacks on the Bryansk and Kursk areas with Western weapons, with ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles.”

Putin again praised Russia’s weapons system as unique, saying that when used in a bundle, its destructive power is comparable to that of an atomic bomb.

He said Russia had fired 100 missiles and 466 combat drones into Ukraine in the past two days alone, describing the massive attacks as a response to Western arms shipments to Ukraine.
