North Texas recorded its first 100-degree day of the year on Sunday and is expected to flirt with triple digits every day this week. A heat advisory is in effect for the region until Wednesday evening, as heat index values ​​of up to 110 degrees are possible.

A complex of storms moved northeast of the metroplex Wednesday morning but won’t have much impact on the region, said Monique Sellers, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth.

Another round of storms will move across the eastern portion of the metroplex Wednesday evening, bringing a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms. Although there is an even greater chance of storms late Wednesday, those storms will occur after sunset.

“Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll get much relief from the heat given the rain chances we have,” Sellers said.

Wednesday’s low storm chances will be the last for the metroplex for several days, Sellers said.

Summer temperatures in North Texas are expected to continue through the week and into the weekend. Highs Wednesday through Sunday are 100 degrees each day, with heat index values ​​as high as 110 degrees.
