MINNEAPOLIS— A NEXT Weather Warning is in effect for a very wet Halloween, with morning rain eventually turning to snow.

The changeover will occur mid-morning in central and eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, creating wet roads and some muddy conditions for the late morning commute. A winter weather advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be cold and windy, with a high of 44 degrees and gusts of up to 40 km per hour.

Due to the warm soil, it will be difficult to remove accumulated snow from this system, although you may see several inches on lawns.

Precipitation should decrease by the afternoon. Expect some moisture to linger into the early evening, although it will be mostly dry for trick-or-treating.

Friday will bring calm weather with a brief chance of scattered showers in west-central Minnesota later in the day. It will be a fast-moving, weak disturbance with little impact.

The weekend will bring above average temperatures again with highs in the low 50s and more rain likely on Sunday. Our wet weather will continue next week.
