Rams Expertly Troll 49ers About Week 3 Collapse With Win Probability Chart originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
The 49ers are hearing it from everyone after blowing a 10-point fourth-quarter lead to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
San Francisco, which lost 27-24 after leading 24-14 early in the fourth quarter, was on track for a Week 3 victory against LA, according to ESPN’s win likelihood chart. The Rams had the final say, though, sharing a screenshot of the graphic on social media after the late-game drama to rub salt in the 49ers’ wounds.
The Rams’ social media manager has taken that into account.
The Rams were in the game until the bitter end, but that shouldn’t have mattered, because the 49ers missed several chances. The analytics were really convinced that the away team would come out on top.
The Rams’ winning chance was just 3.2% with 4:14 left in the fourth quarter in their comeback win over the 49ers.

The stunning loss was nothing short of a meltdown for the 49ers. Despite the many injuries, San Francisco held a double-digit lead, quarterback Brock Purdy made history with another outstanding performance, and wide receiver Jauan Jennings enjoyed a three-touchdown game.
And the injured Rams reflected on what analysts had said before the game about their badly injured team.
The 49ers should now be 2-1, but a series of mistakes helped the Rams climb out of the grave. San Francisco’s wideouts accounted for 75 percent of Purdy’s incompletions with six drops, and the special-teams unit let the team down in key spots.
The Rams are clearly enjoying this and are rubbing it in the 49ers’ noses.
