The Texas Rangers won their first-ever World Series in 2023 and that was partly due to their scorching month of May, when they won 18-9. That was also the moment when fans noticed that it could be a special year for them. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case for the Rangers this season, as they currently sit below .500 with a negative run differential.
Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about what’s going wrong with the defending World Series champions, including whether they can afford to wait until the trade deadline to shore up their already ailing pitching rotation and why they can’t count on a healthy Jacob deGrom to give back this season.
Also in this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys talk about the controversial ending of the Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox game, in which an umpire made a rare decision to end the game. Jake talks about seeing James Wood play in person and a funny interaction he had with future Hall-of-Famer Dusty Baker in the stands at the game.
Jake and Jordan then give their Good, Bad & Uggla for the week, including Bryce Harper helping a high school student with his prom, the Toronto Blue Jays bringing back their home run blower, Maysn Winn’s less than enthusiastic response to the City Connect St. Louis Cardinals uniforms and more.
