Refreshed 2026 Genesis GV80 greets audience in Busan, Korea

Genesis made sure to spread the word about its virtual, high-performance concept called the X Gran Racer VGT, which it was designed for Gran Turismo which debuted at the 2024 Busan International Mobility Show. Turns out Genesis launched its updated Electrified G80 sedan elsewhere on the floor. This refresh comes seven months after Genesis showed off the updated internal combustion G80 in Korea, with mostly cosmetic and comfort updates and a powertrain upgrade. The automaker extended the wheelbase by 5.1 inches, adding most of that space to the second row. The extra space allows for a slightly larger battery pack, going from 87.2 kWh to 95.4 kWh. We’ll find out how many miles that adds to the current car’s 282-mile range when Genesis brings the car here; The sedan being given the model year 2026 designation makes that timing quite vague.

The more spacious rear space offers a second advantage for drivers, as they get new VIP seats with leg rests and a memory function, and an EasyClose system to close the doors with push buttons. Genesis has also added a retractable rear window curtain, although it’s not clear whether that will be standard or optional equipment, assuming the feature makes it here.

Elsewhere, starting at the front, the Micro Lens Array headlamps that adorn the updated gas-powered G80 appear alongside a subtly reshaped grille. Within that frontispiece, the charge port door now gets power, a feature we expected to see on the sedan when it launched three years ago. Below that, a revised lower intake finishes at each end, with a set of dual, chrome-trimmed brackets. Out back, designers have smoothed out the rear bumper and revised the chrome trim lines that start at the rear wheel arches and wrap around the rear of the sedan. The car also sits on a set of new 19-inch wheels.

Inside, we find the updates we saw in the G80, such as the curved three-spoke steering wheel and the 27-inch OLED display.

The car is expected to be launched in the domestic market in August. We then keep an eye on the news about our market.
