Hurricane Helene is expected to make landfall in Florida as a major hurricane late Thursday night.
Rain is expected to hit the area early Friday morning, with the heaviest showers expected in the evening hours, Marando said.
This may have consequences for the high school football matches on Friday evenings.
Wind gusts of 40 to 70 km/h are expected, but no extreme weather is expected, Morando said.
Rainfall totals will vary. The current forecast is for rainfall totals to exceed an inch south of Interstate 70, while areas north of I-70 will receive between a quarter and a half inch of rain.
Ryan says we will see mostly cloudy skies on Saturday, but not as much wind. It will remain unsettled with Helene’s stationary low above us.
We will update this story.
