Renderings show plans for the proposed Hudson Yards casino in NYC. Here’s a closer look at the project.

NEW YORK — Wynn New York City released drawings Wednesday of its proposed $12 billion Manhattan casino complex.

The animated drawings by Related Companies and Wynn Resorts show the transformation of the underdeveloped Western Rail Yard.

The Hudson Yards site would include a 5.6-acre park surrounding the buildings, with office space, affordable apartments, retail, a playground, restaurants and a casino skyscraper. It would also include a pedestrian walkway connecting to the High Line.

Related Companies and Wynn Resorts say the project would create tens of thousands of jobs.

Applications must be received by June 2025, and the final candidates will be chosen late next year. The community will have a chance to voice their opinions before final decisions are made.

New Yorkers divided over proposed Hudson Yards casino

Some neighbors believe the views of the Hudson River will attract more visitors to the neighborhood.

“I think it is a very good idea to open a casino here,” said Ildar Sokolov.

“I think people don’t really come to this side, so it would be a good reason to bring people here,” said Alex Galloca.

But not everyone feels the same way. With the Fashion Institute of Technology nearby, some fear what it could mean for students.

“It wouldn’t have a good influence on the students,” said FIT student Carolina Farais.

“It wouldn’t necessarily be in the best interests of young people to encourage this kind of pastime,” said FIT student Gian Brack.

There are also concerns that some residents will be forced to pay too much.

“Unless you’re a hedge funder or a trust funder, who has the money for that?” said Washington Heights resident Linda Smith.

Other critics say the plan is too drastic and would obstruct the view.
