Quarterback Ryan Tannehill isn’t retired yet, but he’s also in no rush to get back on the field.
Tannehill would need the perfect opportunity to play this season, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
That would mean the team contacts him because he is a playoff contender and is looking for a quarterback, a strong offensive line and offensive weapons, and offers him the money he is looking for.
Tannehill would essentially be following in the footsteps of Joe Flacco, who signed with the Browns last year only after Deshaun Watson was sidelined by a season-ending injury. Flacco eventually became the Browns’ starter and helped them reach the playoffs.
Will such an opportunity arise for Tannehill? It’s possible, but there’s no guarantee that a team that meets all of his requirements will come calling. If it doesn’t happen, the 36-year-old Tannehill may have played his last NFL game.
