Report: Warriors could turn to LaVine or Ingram trade after PG13 chase

Report: Warriors could move to trade LaVine or Ingram after PG13 chase originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

It appears the Warriors have their sights set on other potential trades after failing to land Paul George.

After George reportedly opted out of his $48.7 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday — essentially eliminating any chance Golden State had on him — the Warriors could now target a trade for Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine or New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram, Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported Sunday, citing sources.

“The options range across a spectrum of benefits, from sending picks for Brandon Ingram to potentially acquiring a pick for Zach LaVine, sources said,” Fisher said. “But if no deal happens and the Warriors do lose Klay Thompson, as Golden State and league personnel currently believe will happen, the Warriors are considering their best options, sources said, with the entire mid-level exception that could become available to Golden State.”

LaVine, who battled several back, foot, shoulder and ankle injuries during the 2023-24 NBA season, was only able to play 25 games but averaged 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 45.2 percent from the field and 34.9 percent. from 3-point range. The 29-year-old LaVine is still owed approximately $138 million over the next three seasons on his contract.

Ingram played a big role last season for the Pelicans, who were eighth in the Western Conference, averaging 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game while shooting 49.2 percent from the field and shot 35.5 percent from the 3-point line. Ingram, 26, has one year left on his contract and will be paid about $36 million next season.

If both players are fit, they would provide the Warriors with an excellent second scoring option alongside superstar Steph Curry, as longtime teammate Klay Thompson is likely to leave as a free agent.
