The article on TheAthletic.com that complicates the Jets’ attempts to hire a high-end GM coach contains plenty of interesting nuggets.
We posted one before: the influence of Madden ratings about personnel decisions.
The item also claims that owner Woody Johnson, his wife and his sons criticized players in the locker room.
According to the report, quarterback Mike White entered the locker room after a season-ending loss to the Seahawks. He threw his helmet on the ground before heading to the shower.
Jets players reportedly heard Woody say this: “You should throw your helmet, you f*ck.”
The Jets confirmed through a spokesperson that it had happened — and that Johnson apologized to White.
It’s amazing that it happened. It’s amazing that the Jets are admitting it happened.
It won’t be surprising if this report has a dramatic impact on the Jets’ ability to hire the coach they want, hire the GM they prefer and sign free agents without breaking the bank.
